Fall Foliage Festival

This weekend was the Fall Foliage Festival in our town. Karson and her friend rented a kayak and took it out on the river. They spend more time on the side of the river, in the bushes, than they did in the middle of the river. But it was fun to watch them figure it out. We had homemade root beer and strawberry shortcake. The girls bought bracelets. Kaden, took off with friends as soon as we got there, so I don't know what he did or where he spent his money. Good times in Bedford.

Last night, Kyle watched the baby while I had girls night out. Myself and two friends went to the Old Bedford Village Murder Mystery. You walk around a 17th century village and try to solve a mystery by asking villagers questions. It was super fun. It was nice to have a girls night out and relax. I laughed so much. Last year I went with my mom and we solved the mystery. This year, I wasn't as lucky but my friend Sam was a super sleuth. :)

The Ellingsons get political

Sarah Palin had a Political Rally over the weekend and although I don't want to offend friends or family....She is my hero. I think she is marvelous. So we went to her rally and took the kids. It was an amazing learning experience. Kaden had tons of questions. Karson said she didn't understand a whole lot but she didn't like the people screaming at her when we went inside (protesters). And Khale, slept through most of it. I would go again in a heart beat. The protesters were a bit much but what better way to explain to the kids that people are not always going to agree about things they are passionate about. We waited in line for over two and a half hours to hear Palin talk for about 15 min. We were back so far, as you can see from the pictures, that she was nothing more than a pea. But we could hear her very well and the excitement of the attendees was infectious. You may not agree with my politics but the pictures are super cute!

New House Update

The house is really coming along. They have told us only ten more days until completion. The yard is finished and looks really good. I was very happy with how the leveling turned out. My master bedroom ceiling turned out really neat. The floors go in on Monday. The kitchen is coming along as well. Kaden is so excited about the basement. He can't wait to turn it into his space. The kids already love the back yard and can't wait to play out there everyday when we move. I know we have waited a long time for this but I will tell you the next two weeks are not going to go by quick enough.

Pretty in Pink and Homecoming parade

This weekend was the big Homecoming Parade. Karson rode on a float and took her sister along. Kaden and a few of the other football players walked beside the cheerleaders float. He is the number 80. It was a lot of fun. Khale loved the girls cheering and screaming. The loudest float won a prize. I was shocked that it wasn't our group.

Khale looked so cute in this pink outfit I had to share. And last but not least, Khale tastes her first Carmel apple. The apples were super sour but she really liked it. By the time she was finished she was a sticky mess!

Happy Birthday Kaden

Happy Birthday Kaden!!!!!!!

Kaden turned 13 and I almost had a break down. I am now the mother of a teenage boy. That is crazy talk! But he is a great kid so what's not to be happy about? He had a pretty good birthday. He has decided to celebrate with his friends when we get into our new house in November so he had a pretty mellow family birthday. I made him his favorite dinner and a cake. He got the video game he wanted and when he opened the present he threw himself on the ground in a happy fit and took a picture of the game with his cell phone so he could show his friends. His Uncle sent him some money and we had to immediately run to the store and buy the other game he wanted. All in all it was a really fun day. BUT it is still really hard to believe that my precious baby boy is a teenager. When did all that time go by?

Mommy's Birthday

We went to the Pittsburgh Zoo for my birthday and it was a good time to be had by all. The baby just loved seeing all the animals and the other two kids loved seeing the baby. We had so much fun. Afterwards we went to eat at the Cheesecake Factory where Kaden and Kyle bought the biggest burgers I have ever seen. Kyle could eat all of his but Kaden was done in about half way through. Afterwards, the kids played in an water fountain. Khale could not believe we were letting her get soaking wet. But it was raining anyway so we decided, "what the heck." Once she got in, we had to send Kaden in after her because she didn't want to come out! It was a really good birthday. Although I miss extended family and friends to share the time with us.

Kaden's birthday is next but he has decided to celebrate his birthday in November because he wants his friends to be able to come and stay at his new house. So we are holding off for a while. Lucky for us, because this house stuff is really stressful!
